The weather is certainly getting warmer and that means one thing: Spring & Summer weddings!
Brides, do your Ladies a favor: shorten that hemline!
We love the look of long, luxurious gowns for our bridesmaids, but with warm weather approaching, we think it's best for a bridal party to dress seasonally.
Here are some tips for Spring & Summer dresses:
- Go short: and when we say "short" we don't mean inappropriate. Keep hemlines at a reasonable length, considering the age of the bridal party (think junior maids) and the heel heights of the shoes.
- Don't be afraid of color: the warmer months are a great time to show off beautiful pastel colors or punchy tones!
- Don't stick to one fabric: we love chiffon for summer, but the newest styles showcase short dresses in taffeta and silk dupioni, which helps to keep the overall style of your wedding elegant and formal. Trying on these fabrics will prove they can feel lightweight.
- Consider body type: a short dress looks great on everyone when it has an A-line shape, and your maids may feel more comfortable in a short style if the dress has straps or a one-shoulder design.
- Get a great shoe: this would be the time to make sure all of the girls have the same shoes. Choose something with a t-strap design or a metallic gold or silver to complement the color of the fabric.
